NATIONAL REFORM PLAN
NATIONAL REFORM PLAN
Following the Spring European Council of 2005, which re-launched the Lisbon Strategy focusing on the priorities in Growth and Jobs, the Portuguese Government named a Coordinator of the Lisbon Strategy as well as a Coordination Network made up of representatives of all the ministries which comprise the present Government. This Coordination Network was given the task of conceiving of the National Plan of Reforms for implementation in the Lisbon Strategy on the national level for the 2005-2008 time frame, and presented on 15 October 2005 to the European Commission under the title of “National Action Plan for Growth and Jobs – PNACE 2005-2008.”
This Coordination Network also became responsible for the monitoring the implementation of the Lisbon Strategy in Portugal, which presents an implementation report to the European Commission every year (in October).
In October of 2008, and in accordance with the guidelines of the Spring Council of March 2007, Portugal presented its National Reform Programme (NRP) for the New Cycle (2008-2010) which seeks the greatest level of rationality and focus with respect to the reform measures while nevertheless respecting the six priority domains.
